Why this sounds fake
Mountains feel like background scenery covered in trees, not older than the forested world itself.
The Appalachian region records very ancient mountain-building events, and NASA describes the Appalachians as among the oldest mountains in the world. True forests came later. Britannica places Archaeopteris, probably the first true tree to form forests, around 385 to 359 million years ago. So parts of the Appalachian mountain story reach back into a world before forests as we know them. It is a cleaner surprise than trying to compare every ridge to one exact date. The point is that mountains can predate the forested world we picture. The landscape was not always green.
