VERIFIED FACT
A forest in Utah is actually one massive organism.
Why this sounds fake
A forest looks like many separate trees, so one organism hiding in plain sight feels wrong.
Pando looks like a normal aspen grove, but genetic testing shows it is one tree producing clones of itself. The Natural History Museum of Utah describes it as one tree that has sent out more than 40,000 genetically identical shoots across 106 acres. Individual trunks come and go, but the connected root system is the reveal. It looks like a forest. Biologically, it is one enormous living thing. That is why the fact lands so quickly: your eyes see many trees, while the biology says one organism. The ground is the twist.
